MASTER'S THESIS

OBJECTIVE

To examine the effects of different warning types on drivers’ takeover responses while they are engaging in different non-driving tasks during conditional automated driving

ABSTRACT
  • A simulator-based study with a mixed-subjects design while participants interacting with a simulated Level-3 automated system under different conditions.

  • Two types of takeover request (TOR) warning systems (Auditory TOR & Multimodal TOR) under four types of non-driving task conditions with two levels of non-driving task duration.

  • Photos depict the Instrument Cluster when the automated system is active (Green Icon) and when it offers a takeover request (Red Icon).

  • The two audio files below the images indicate the Auditory TOR (Play it to Listen)

VIDEO
  • Video depicts a participant engaged in a non-driving task while the automated system is ACTIVE.

  • Receives the takeover request.

  • Play the video to see all in action.
